Pattaya

Pattaya is a resort city on Thailand's eastern Gulf coast known for its scenic beaches, multicultural population, vibrant nightlife and many attractions. From rejuvenation to adrenaline-fueled thrills – Pattaya has it all for all kinds of travelers.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Pattaya is between November to early April, as the temperatures range from 32 to 36°C, with up to 9 hours of sunshine a day. March is especially good for pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds, while April is more crowded, which means you need to reserve lodging early.

Getting There and Around

PT Pattaya is about 120 km from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). Travelers can get to the city by private taxis, public buses or shared minivans. Within Pattaya, you can use:

  • Baht Buses (Songthaews). Shared pick-up trucks run on set routes and are budget way to get around the city alike.
  • Motorbike Rentals. It’s an option if you are comfortable riding, but be careful because of how the street is.

Top Attractions

  • Walking Street. The most well-known nightlife area in Pattaya featuring numerous bars, clubs, and entertainment spots.
  • Sanctuary of Truth. A beautiful wooden temple that features traditional Thai architecture and craftsmanship.
  • Nong Nooch Tropical Garden. A large botanical garden with thematic landscapes, cultural shows, and elephant performances.
  • Big Buddha Hill (Wat Phra Yai). Located at the top to an 18-meter-tall golden Buddha statue and home to stunning panoramic views over the city.
  • Island in Thailand. Coral Island (Koh Larn) – An island a short ferry ride away with beautiful, clear water and white, sandy beaches, colourful coral and a great place to spend the day.

Beaches

  • Pattaya Beach. A 4-kilometer long crescent curve beach located next to the city center where visitors can sunbathe and participate in a myriad of water sports.
  • Jomtien Beach. To the south of Pattaya, this beach is more laid-back and good for families and water sports.
  • Naklua Beach. Located to the north, this beach offers a quieter escape from the vibrant city.

Accommodation

Accommodation in Pattaya is varied and caters to a wide range of budgets:

  • Luxury Resorts. Upscale resorts, premium amenities, and beachfront.
  • Mid-Range Hotels. Hotels that provide comfortable lodging at a good value, usually near tourist attractions.
  • Hostel and Guesthouse. Budget accommodations for backpackers.

Nightlife

Also off Walking Street, Pattaya’s party scene features:

  • Beach Clubs. Stylish places to sip cocktails, listen to music and gaze at the sea.
  • Night Markets. The evening bazaars for browsing and sampling local street food.
  • Popular Places. Thai, Traditional show & Cabaret show for everyone.

Safety Tips

While Pattaya is overall a safe city, it will be beneficial to:

Keep Safety in Mind.< Don’t forget about your surroundings – and your personal property. Use trusted transportation providers to keep costs reasonable and safe.

The top things to do in Pattaya are well worth the long drive from Bangkok, and this is a city that's bursting with energy, cultural diversity, and natural beauty. With so many places to visit, it is impossible to cite all of them.
